Tall Corn Stalks!

Male "Flower" or Tassel

Strolling around the farm today I decided to snap a few pictures of the corn as it has grown taller than me (at 5’3″ it doesn’t take much).  Some sections are at least 7 feet tall already!  Corn grows rapidly in hot weather and old timers say that  the sweet smell you pick up when you pass a corn field is the aroma it puts off as it grows.  The tassels that develop are the male “flower” which pollinate the female “flower” or silk on top of the cob to create the “fruit” or kernel.
