…And the Best Potatoes Are…GTF Signature Chefs!

Some people dance around the maypole when the merry month of May comes around. Some only think about dancing around the maypole! At Green Thumb Farms, we don’t need a maypole. We’re more likely to dance around the farm machinery because we mark the start of May by planting the world’s most delicious potato – our Signature Variety. Weird name, I know. But this is a name for potato lovers to remember. In fact, it’s the potato that has made us famous with potato connoisseurs. In these days of farm to table and sourcing for the best ingredients, our Signature Variety is the go-to potato! It was...

You Don’t Need To Ask Me Twice…

I’m sure I have mentioned this before, but one of my favorite perks of working at Green Thumb Farms is taste testing! Whether it is taste testing fries for quality assurance, testing new varieties, or sampling a new recipe you can bet I will be the first to show up with fork in hand! Simply put, you cannot find a better addition to your diet! Beans are a nutrient dense food packed with different vitamins and minerals including Potassium, Calcium, Iron, Vitamin C and more! They are also high in lignans and flavonoids which play a role in...

Stamping Fun!

I have to admit there may have been a time or two when I let my potatoes spout, shameful I know. Either they got buried in the closet, I didn’t take the time to store them properly or life just got in the way and I never got around to cooking them. If you’re anything like me it pains you throw out food, especially produce. Well, have no fear there is still a fun use for those potatoes…potato stamps! This is not just for kids either, I have seen some pretty neat projects made by adults with the help of our little tubers! Supplies Needed: Large potatoes (1 potato for every two designs you’d...

Full Steam Ahead!

A little snow and rain didn’t slow us down! Yesterday’s weather certainly left a little something to be desired, but the crew pushed forward on an exciting new project! To better accommodate our crop and provide storage throughout the year we’ve decided to add a fourth storage building to our facility. The new building will have a state-of-the-art temperature control system.   This system will allow us to constantly monitor and adjust the storage environment and make sure the potatoes remain in optimum storage conditions. To us, the building represents more than just another place to...
